When do you clean your cartridges?

 

It’s recommended that you clean your cartridges in your filter every three to six months as needed and

 

Why should you clean your cartridges?

 

The benefits of clean cartridges include:

  • Reduce pressure
  • Require less chemicals
  • Increase circulation
  • Better, more effective filtration
  • Less brushing and vacuuming

 

How do you clean your cartridge and D.E. filters?

 

  1. Take cartridge or D.E. grids out of filter housing
  2. Get a large container (trash can) to soak them in
  3. Add one pound of GLB Filter Cleanse per five gallons of water
  4. Add two liters of Pool Perfect by Natural Chemistry
  5. Let cartridges or grids soak for 12 hours
  6. Lightly rinse off. Cartridges or grids
  7. Reinstall cartridges or grids into filter housing

 

Why should you backwash your sand filter?

 

Backwashing flushes out trapped debris and contaminants through your waste line or a hose that is connected to the pool pump. When the filter media is clean, the pressure gauge is lower and water can easily flow in and out of the system.

 

When do you backwash your sand filter?

When pressure gauge is above 20 to 25 psi.

 

How do you backwash your sand filter?

 

  1. Turn pool off
  2. Turn multi-port clockwise to backwash
  3. Turn pool on and backwash for 3-5 minutes or until water in the sight glass is clear
  4. Turn pool off
  5. Turn multi-port clockwise to rinse
  6. Turn pool on and rinse for 30 to 60 seconds
  7. Turn pool off
  8. Turn multi-port clockwise to filter
  9. Turn pool on
